I am honored to serve as the twelfth Chairman of the Board for KCSC which, for more than four decades, has been the leading social service agency for the Asian American community of the metropolitan Washington DC area. Throughout our 45 year history, KCSC has witnessed the profound and positive impact on society that takes place when our community comes together to lend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters. KCSC is proud to be a conduit and a tool for such positive societal changes.
KCSC has experienced phenomenal growth in the array of social services that we are able to provide, including assistance to victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, and financial exploitation, health promotion services, immigration and citizenship services, family enrichment services, alcohol and substance counseling, financial literacy education, and senior empowerment programs. This kind of growth in our service offerings could not have been possible without the dedicated volunteers, devoted staff, supportive community, and strong cooperation of the faith-based organizations. As we look to expand our assistance to meet the evolving and most challenging social issues of our time, we are grateful for the invaluable partnerships we have established with federal, state, and local governments as well as with many charitable foundations, local businesses, and generous individual donors.
As a lifelong Washingtonian, I can see every day all the benefits of our diversity and I am confident in the positive change we can bring to people’s lives when we can encourage, empower, and engage the community in the goal of serving those who are less fortunate. I invite each one of you to be a partner with KCSC on our journey, knowing that it is only when we work together with purpose that we can be successful in serving a cause that is greater than ourselves.
Sincerely,
Roger S. Pyon
Chairman
