| KCSC’s Executive Director, Ji-Young Cho, holds a master’s degree in Family Studies from Seoul National University, Korea and a doctoral degree in Public and Community Health from the University of Maryland in College Park. Dr. Cho has an advanced-level skill set in public health policy, program planning, and evaluation. She has extensive experience with serving the Korean community and more than 10 years’ experience managing and sustaining various projects successfully. Dr. Cho joined KCSC in 2008 and worked previously as KCSC’s Director of Programs. She became KCSC’s 6th appointed Executive Director in August, 2010. Dr. Cho provides administrative and financial oversight to the organization and overall programmatic supervision. In 2011, Dr. Cho was selected by the Korea Times (one of the most influential Korean newspapers) as one of the “Korean 30”, for her selfless contribution to society and outstanding performance in the field of health and human services. |
![]() | Jai Hoon Jung joined KCSC in November 2006. He is KCSC’s Administrative and Financial Specialist and is responsible for all day-to-day administrative and financial matters for the agency. Mr. Jung holds a Master in Network and Communication Management with a concentration in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management. In July 2017, Mr. Jung was promoted to the position of Director of Finance. |
![]() | Kate Hilton-Hayward joined KCSC in May 2014 as the Director of Development, having previously served as a consultant to the agency since 2006. Ms. Hayward has worked in the field of U.S. immigrant and refugee integration for more than twenty-five years including over fifteen years with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. Ms. Hayward is responsible for leading KCSC’s advancement program as adopted by the Board of Directors. In addition, she designs, implements, and manages all fundraising activities, public relations, and marketing plans for the agency. Ms. Hayward was educated at Cheltenham Ladies’ College in England and Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Studio Art. In 2017, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. |
![]() | Pyowook Han joined KCSC in February 2015 as the Director of Programs. He is primarily responsible for overseeing KCSC’s programs and services, including the Social & Immigration Program, Health Promotion Program, Family Enrichment Program, and Educational Program. He is also a member of KCSC’s Development Team. Mr. Han received his Master of Social Work from Ohio State University and served Asian immigrants at AACS in Columbus OH from March 2009 to January 2015. |
![]() | Kianna Mckenzie joined KCSC in June 2020 as the Development Coordinator. She is responsible for researching new proposal opportunities offered by new or existing funders. She also works with KCSC’s Development Team members and designated program staff to develop program/service models for new proposals. Furthermore, she received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, where she majored in East Asian languages. She spent her junior year studying at Korea University in Seoul and, while there, also served as the Social Media Coordinator for the Asian American Journalists Association. Kianna returned to Seoul in March 2019, taught English at POLY Academy for a year, and, most recently, completed a Marketing and Video Editor Internship at Adventure Korea. Kianna enjoys reading, photography, and staying active in her free time. |
![]() | Leah Clark joined KCSC in September 2020. At KCSC, she is a financial assistant and supports daily financial tasks. She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and used to work as a CPA assistant and a banker. She also has worked as an interpreter for over 7 years which helped her understand the difficulties and struggles many immigrants face. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano and spending time with her family. |
![]() | Daehyeon (Dan) Choi joined KCSC in Feb, 2016 as a Social Service Coordinator. He is resposible for providing comprehensive social services and for helping eligible community members to access public benefits. He also works for KCSC’s Beneftis Enrollment Center(BEC) which helps low-income sniors and persons with disabilities find and enroll in all the benefits program. He has a bachelor’s degree in Regional Infrastructure Enginnering with a focus on Environmental Modeling using Geographic Information System (GIS) in Korea and has a certificate of GIS specialist. |
![]() | Hyun Sun Park joined KCSC in January 2018 as a Social Service Coordinator, primarily working in KCSC’s Silver Spring Office. She has Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul, Korea. Ms.Park has had an 18-year career as an editor of a wide variety of publications including magazines, newspapers, and books. Most recently, prior to coming to the United States, she served for eleven years as the chief editor and manager of marketing for a large publishing company. Now she has proudly chosen to commit her time to helping Korean community members, focusing particularly on the needs of Korean elders living in the vicinity of the Silver Spring office. |
![]() | Woolim (Will) Lee joined KCSC in November 2018 with a vision to serve local Asian American communities with diverse needs in social service. Mr. Lee studied economics in University of Maryland and had since worked in the apparel industry in Los Angeles before joining KCSC. Mr. Lee hopes his experience in sales and client services in various business settings progresses as an important asset in fulfilling the Social Service Coordinator position. Mr. Lee has also volunteered in numerous community outreaches and Christian mission programs while taking leadership roles at Los Angeles Onnuri Church. Mr. Lee primarily serves in the Ellicott City branch. |
![]() | Jae Won Yang joined KCSC in June 2019 as a Job Project Coordinator. He completed a Master of Social Work at Fordham University in 2019. Over the last 3 years, he provided short-term counselling to the elderly, homeless families, and college students to promote their physical and mental well-being. Currently, he hopes to bring about changes in his client’s lives by practicing strength-based and problem solving approaches. |
![]() | Ingook Park joined KCSC in February 2020 as the Social Service Coordinator for the Housing Program. Ms. Park is a HUD-certified housing counselor and provides one-on-one housing counseling support to KCSC clients and budget/finance analysis for First-Time Homebuyers. She also helps clients to access affordable housing and apply for public and senior housing options, if eligible. In addition, she facilitates the First-Time Homebuyers Program educational seminars. Ms. Park chose to work in this field because she felt that assisting Korean Americans to access a better quality of life in America would be meaningful work. The most rewarding part of her work is seeing clients leave KCSC’s offices with a satisfied smile on their faces. Ms. Park graduated from the Catholic University of Korea majoring in French literature before moving to America. Prior to joining KCSC, she worked for 8 years as an interpreter for court proceedings, hospitals, financial institutes, insurance companies, government agencies, etc. For relaxation, Ms. Park enjoys deep breathing and long walks, watching K-dramas with yummy snacks on the side, and playing tennis. |
![]() | Misuk Hare has joined KCSC in October, 2017 as a domestic violence project coordinator. She provided case management and community outreach to the Korean community. On July 1 2018, she began working as a health project coordinator. She coordinates KCSC’s health projects by facilitating Grace Community Clinic for uninsured and low-income individuals, KCSC’s Annual Health Fair in VA and MD, dental services through Pro Bono Dental Service and Free Dental Service (Hope For Tomorrow), line dance classes to low-income seniors, semi-annual Hepatitis B/ Hepatitis C prevention projects, and health literacy educational seminars. Before she joined KCSC, she worked at Fairfax County Public School as a parent liaison and Korean interpreter for 10 years. |
![]() | Yesle Soh joined KCSC in February 2019 as the Health Project Coordinator overseeing Virginia and Maryland. She provides information and referral services for primary health care to uninsured or underinsured individuals. Ms. Soh attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and minored in Chemistry. She plans on continuing her education in Public Health to help bridge the gap between minority communities and the national healthcare system. In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga and staying active through various sports. |
![]() | Hyun Young (Sunny Renee) Berg joined KCSC in October 2019 as Health Project Coordinator, working with the Korean community on Project SHINE (Staying Healthy with Improved Nutrition and Exercise), a childhood and family obesity prevention program. Using the Chronic Disease Self-Management Curriculum, the project focuses on teaching the whole family about healthy lifestyle habits, such as increasing exercise, learning about good nutrition, and engaging in a walk-to-school program. Mrs. Berg works in KCSC’s Gaithersburg, Maryland branch and will be implementing Project Shine in Montgomery and Howard Counties. Mrs. Berg has over 15 years of experience working at all levels of Korean and English education. She has been a Korean instructor for foreigners in South Korea and an ESOL instructor in Washington state. Her interests include fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. She has also been in love with music her whole life. Mrs. Berg is married to her spouse of 15 years and together they have one seven-year-old son, Andrew. |
![]() | Xiaoli Li joined KCSC in February 2020 as a Health Coordinator for Chinese community members. She is responsible for Project SHINE (Staying Healthy with Improved Nutrition and Exercise) and improves the overall health of Chinese children and families living in Montgomery and Howard Counties, Maryland. Ms. Li received her Master of Sports Management from George Mason University in 2018. She is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Also, she is a Functional Fitness Specialist, Weight Management Specialist, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist. Her passion for sports provides her with a steady stream of energy to pass on knowledge, and to help others. Her background in sports education and 20+ years of athletic experience are tools she uses to help others achieve their short term and long term goals. |
![]() | Seunghee Yeo joined KCSC’s Annandale office in November 2020 as a Health Project Coordinator for the Korean community. With a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia & Communication Engineering from Seoul Women’s University, Ms. Yeo has expertise in public relations, marketing, broadcast writing, and graphic design. In addition, she has served as a dedicated volunteer, helping elderly people who live alone and providing support to orphans living in an orphanage. In her free time, she enjoys editing videos and various sports. |

She is responsible for the implementation of the Premarital Education Program, Marital Couple Workshop, Summer Family Camp, Mentoring Program, and Parenting Education Program. Mrs. Hutchinson worked at Inter-continental Hotel, Auditor Dept. in Seoul and later was a Parent Liaison and Korean Interpreter at Fairfax County Public Schools for 11 years. Mrs. Hutchinson has a passion for working with couples to help them become the happiest, healthiest couples they can be. |
![]() | Mihyang Um joined KCSC in December 2016 as a “Home Sweet Home” Project Coordinator. She is primarily responsible for providing individuals and couples with educational workshops on how to communicate with their family members for healthy and sound relationships. She provides customized services to people in parenting, communication skills, finance, and career advice by arranging meetings with professionals in the relevant fields. Mrs. Um also works in online and offline Q & A programs to help people interested in relationship enhancement between family members. Mrs. Um used to work as a technical specialist for a patent law firm in Korea and later was a chemistry tutor at A-plus Science World, also in Korea. She studied Science Education with a concentration in Chemistry at Ewha Womans University. Later, she received her Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling – Marriage and Family from Liberty University. She is also a certified facilitator of both the Prepare/Enrich program and court-ordered co-parenting program in Virginia. |
![]() | Haley Huang joined KCSC in April 2016 as a “Home Sweet Home” Project Coordinator. She is responsible for outreach to the Chinese community and for providing educational workshops on healthy marriages and relationships. While working in the human resources department of a private company in China, Ms. Huang discovered that she liked to help Chinese families solve their relationship problems. She started her own successful marital counseling business and in 2012, she received her Chinese certification as a marriage counselor. Ms. Huang came to the United States in December 2014 and, prior to joining KCSC, continued her work with couples and families in the Chinese immigrant community. Ms. Huang is certified by the Gottman Institute in Level 1 and Level 2 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She is also a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. In her spare time, she loves reading and international cuisine. |

She is responsible for the UGA Project, Religious Leaders for Healthy Families which is an online training regarding domestic violence specifically designed for Korean American religious leaders. She also works to build awareness of Sexual Assault and Dating Violence by outreach and education in the Korean community. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Methodist Theological University and received her Master’s degree in Social Work from The Graduate School of Soongsil University. She has a passion to serve others. She used to work at the Community Welfare Centers in Korea. She had served seniors in a daycare center by providing care programs, disabled children and their families by coordinating educational programs, children in need by launching after-school programs. She also has served as an educator and a program coordinator over years for children and youth in various churches setting. |
![]() | Na Eun (Anna) Kim joined KCSC as a Domestic Violence Project Coordinator. In order to raise awareness within the community, Na Eun Kim facilitates DV outreach and education. Na Eun Kim also provides case management and support for DV clients and their families. She studied social work at Case Western Reserve University with a concentration in mental health for adults. She completed her internship at Asian Services in Action providing mental health services and domestic violence case management to the immigrant and refugee population in Cleveland, OH. |

Ms, Park is responsible for providing education about elder abuse, identity theft, and other crimes affecting Korean seniors. She also provides direct case management for victims of elder abuse. She received her Master of Social Work from Ewha Womans University in 2015 and her Master in Public Administration, with a concentration in nonprofit management, from Grand Valley State University in 2016. She completed her practicum at the Family Advocacy Program of the U.S. Army Garrison located in South Korea and Koreantown Youth Community Center in L.A. She has research experiences in Seoul Mental Health Center and Seoul Nambu Probation Center to evaluate programs. She is a board member of nonprofit organizations supporting Korean communities in Michigan. |

She completed a Master of Social Work at the Catholic University of America in 2017, with a combined concentration, integrating clinical work with a macro component (social change). Her previous field experience includes working in disaster relief, immigration services, policy research, and nonprofit program development. |
![]() | You Sin Kim joined KCSC in February 2018 as a Domestic Violence Project Coordinator, specifically focusing on KCSC’s transitional housing support project for victims of domestic violence and their children. Ms. Kim provides rental assistance, case management, supportive services and follow up for DV clients. Ms. Kim graduated from Seoul Jangsin University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and received her Master of Social Work from The Graduate School of Social Welfare of Ewha Womans University, Korea. Ms. Kim worked at the national headquarters of the Community Child Center, supporting over 4000 centers throughout Korea. She has more than 400 hours of field practicum experience on the social work teams of Severance Hospital and National Cancer Center, Korea. During her graduate studies, she was also a research assistant, examining the adjustment of families adopting older children. Ms. Kim is a licensed social worker in Korea. She enjoys spending time with her family and teaching Sunday school at her local church. |
![]() | Rachel Liu joined KCSC in January 2020 as a Victim Service Coordinator. She works for the Sexual Assault and Dating Violence Project for Asian Americans in KCSC’s Gaithersburg office. Ms. Liu has been working in the human rights field for over 10 years and has a background in sociology, social work, and psychology. She values her connections with the Chinese community and is passionate and proud to commit to helping Chinese community members at KCSC. Ms. Liu received her Ph.D. from Beijing University and taught sociology and social work in Beijing for several years as a professor. She is also a writer and has published more than ten books and dozens of papers on women’s rights, children’s education, and internal migration in China. She loves dogs and her interests include opera, painting, and photography. |

Ms. Im is responsible for assisting victims of domestic violence with information, resources, emotional support, and assistance through the criminal or civil justice system. Ms. Im majored in Psychology at Purdue University and minored in Business. Her previous field experiences were in mental health, such as adult rehabilitation, recovery from mental disease, and suicide prevention as a gatekeeper. |

She provides individualized case management and supportive guidance for domestic violence clients and their loved ones. She studied Sociology with an interest to serve individuals from diverse backgrounds at the University of Maryland, College Park. As her fascination in serving people with numerous challenges and adversities grew, she decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Counselor Education with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Kentucky in 2017. She is expecting to graduate in May 2021. From 2019 to 2020, she has worked as a Mental Health Counselor Intern at a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program, Go-Getters, Inc. (Princess Anne, MD), where she had the opportunity to serve individuals with severe mental illness, including victims of domestic violence. Her current study has sparked her passion for providing a welcoming and safe environment for victims and survivors of domestic violence. |
