Purpose

To promote a strong sense of identity and personal growth for Korean youth

Description
KCSC's youth enrichment program encompasses a variety of objectives and strategies to help Korean youth become strong adults.

Summer School
offered annually during a five-week period in the summer mostly for kids who are home alone during the summer vacation while both parents work fulltime. KCSC's summer school program offers a stimulating and educational environment for children to maintain and develop a healthy self and ethnic identity and build strong personal growth for the future. The summer program consists of an academic curriculum in subjects such as Korean, English, and Math. Recreational activities such as music, art, cooking, swimming, and field trips are also part of the curriculum. The goals of the program are: 1) to build positive self-concept by promoting academics and personal growth.2) build lasting friendships between students and staff 3) provide a variety of learning styles and experiences 4) prepare youth to cope with future challenges

Parenting Skills Workshops
providing parents with the language skills and knowledge they need to become highly effective decision makers and advocates for their children's growth and well-being. Will increase knowledge in parenting, addressing youth violence issues, conflict resolutions, and stress management

Pregnant Teen Intervention
initiative to serve as an information source to provide information for teen mothers and families. We provide in depth case management services to the teen and to (his) her family assisting them with making an informed decision as well as providing information for services to pregnant teens or teen mothers

Tobacco Cessation and Prevention

Services Offered
Support group counseling- addressing such issues as developing communication skills, conflict resolution, and skills to refrain from drugs, gang involvement and deviant behaviors.

Family Counseling and therapy- therapist will work with parents and youth to discuss issues, resolve problems, and improve family dynamics.
