HIV/AIDS Program Purpose To provide awareness and prevention education of HIV/AIDS and STD'S to the Korean community Description KCSC's HIV/AIDS program provides culturally and linguistically competent education, outreach, and case management services to Korean Americans, as well as those living with HIV/AIDS, by increasing community awareness of HIV/AIDS, reducing the stigma related to HIV/AIDS in the Korean community, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and by increasing family and community support. Minority AIDS Project Funded by the Virginia Dept. of Health, this project provides prevention and education/outreach to the Korean community. The Minority AIDS Project provides workshops, educational and informational material, outreach services on HIV/AIDS, STD prevention education, and referrals. The target populations for this project are sexually active heterosexual Korean adults and youth. Through these mechanisms, KCSC has been able to identify at-risk individuals and those with HIV/AIDS and provide them with vital and necessary services. The project also involves short term and long term case management to clients based on their needs. KCSC collaborates with a diverse array of community based organizations, health care providers, and public health officials to promote HIV/AIDS prevention and outreach.
