It is my pleasure to welcome you to Korean Community Services of Greater Washington’s website. Our organization was founded in 1974 with a mission to provide social services, education, advocacy and development to Asian Americans and new immigrants to help them become well-adjusted and fully contributing members of this society.
We have grown a lot as an organization with 24 board members leading, 17 professionals passionately working and over 100 volunteers serving. In the last couple of years, we have had many success stories, including expanding the University Gardens Senior Apartments in Silver Spring, MD, assisting thousands of community members enroll in “Obamacare”, initiating a 24hr hot-line for victims of Domestic Violence, implementing new programs such as our youth empowerment project and job readiness services, and continuing popular services such as our annual Health Fairs and the Senior Academy. Yet, there is much more to be done as an organization and as a community to improve the lives of many and to share our knowledge and resources.
I hope that this website will be a useful window into this organization for you to learn more about what KCSC does within the community, how we do what we do, as well as provide insight into why our dedicated team chooses to do this deeply satisfying work.
Please feel free to contact any of us to share your ideas and to support this wonderful organization.
Most Sincerely,
SangHee Elizabeth Kim
Chairman of the Board, KCSC
