KCSC is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit comprehensive social service agency founded in 1974 and has served over 15,000 members of the AAPI community on an annual basis through comprehensive services including:
Children / 아동
“When you connect to the heart of a child, everything is possible.” – Dr. Karyn Purvis
Children can struggle with seemingly simple matters such as getting up in the morning, turning off the television, and going to bed at night. When children don’t have the life skills to understand or share their emotional struggles, they may resort to behaviors such as crying, arguing with siblings, defiance, withdrawal, etc.
Teens / 청소년
Check in with your teen often to discuss how they’re feeling and managing, and watch for signs of mental health struggles. Keep in mind that these signs are not the same for everyone; different people show different signs when trying to deal with mental health challenges.
It’s normal for teens to feel sad during this time, crying sometimes because they miss their friends or because sports and musical productions were cancelled.
Adults / 성인
This season of Covid 19 social distancing has created an unexpected long and drawn out pause in the lives of many adults in our community. With the elimination of hours of daily travel, hours of exercise routines, and hours of community or social activities, the extra time on our hands has led to either more time with family members or to more time alone. That has been a positive experience for some, while it has been a difficult and challenging experience for many, many others.
Overview of Counseling Services /심리상담/치료에 대한 개요
The thought of seeking support through counseling services can feel uncomfortable to an individual who has relied upon their own strength and resources to overcome life’s challenges and difficulties.
To clarify any misperceptions, the intent of counseling is never to diminish or take away an individual’s strengths and resources. Rather, effective counseling needs to begin by first identifying and then building upon the existing strengths and positive resources of an individual
